Meet Eliscia

My name is Eliscia and I am the founder of The Feeding Company! I am a licensed occupational therapist and certified lactation consultant with a passion for infant feeding. I graduated with my Masters of Occupational Therapy from The Ohio State University in 2016 and have worked in pediatric acute care since then. I have over 5 years of experience as a feeding therapist and several more years of experience as an infant caregiver. Over the years, I began to notice new parents are often oversaturated with information, but then lack adequate support within the first year of their baby’s life. I started this business to be that source of support for new parents. How you choose to feed your baby is a personal decision and your baby is not like any other baby. The Feeding Company was built to provide you with the support and expertise to feed not just any baby, but your baby. It’s personal. It’s intentional. It’s built for YOU. I love what I do and I cannot wait to meet you!

What our Clients Say!

“I cannot give The Feeding Company high enough regards. I started working with Eliscia prior to the birth of our son, Jordan. We completed a prenatal education course the day before Jordan was born and Eliscia was incredibly knowledgeable and provided us with a ton of information we had not received in our other prenatal courses that ended up being incredibly useful during our hospital stay. After Jordan was born (2 weeks early) we were struggling with nursing (which was my personal goal) and feeling defeated due to the pediatrician and lactation consultants in the hospital telling us Jordan’s “latch is unimpressive” and “his suck is uncoordinated”. When we got home Jordan did not nurse or have a wet diaper for approximately ten hours. Both Jordan, myself and my spouse had become incredibly stressed and Eliscia was incredibly flexible jumping on a virtual appointment with us immediately upon request. She was able to help calm me down, provide us with multiple tips to try and when nothing was working (poor Jordan was hangry!) she helped me feel comfortable with my decision to supplement with a bottle of formula so that he was more regulated and we could continue trying in better circumstances. (Which our pediatrician applauded). Eliscia and I met virtually about a dozen more times throughout that next week as we attempted nursing, pumped and then bottle fed when we were unable to nurse. She helped me keep my spirits up, continue working towards my goal, and ultimately was the one that suggested the nipple shield which was the tool that worked for us. She was incredibly flexible with scheduling, which allowed us to work around Jordan’s cues. She also provided a really holistic view and helped reduce my feelings of guilt as we figured out what was going to work for Jordan and I. Although Jordan had initially lost too much weight (more than 10% his body weight), thanks to Eliscia we had him up at our next weight check and only had to supplement with the one initial bottle of formula! He started successfully nursing after a week of working with Eliscia and at his 2 week appointment was over his birthweight again! We recently had his 1 month appointment and he gained an ounce a day nursing!! We’re beyond thankful!
Overall, Eliscia is a wealth of knowledge and by exchanging videos, photos, texts, and even recommending the right feeding tools for us, we have had a great experience and I can’t recommend her strongly enough. We are so thankful to grow with her and this company and that we have access to resources to transition off the nipple shield, for when I transition back to work and for when he starts eating solid foods. Eliscia provides exceptional, responsive, flexible, individualized and caring services, so I truly cannot recommend her and The Feeding Company enough.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are common questions about the services we provide.

Occupational therapists address the necessary self-care activities of every day. For babies, one of those activities of daily living is feeding. So, occupational therapists are trained to assist in infant feeding. We are trained to assess and treat oral motor skills, oral structural deficits, developmental milestones, positioning, and overall coordination during feeding. At The Feeding Company, our employees are also trained in all the aspect of bottle feeding. We are knowledgeable on several different brands of bottles and how the various nipple flow rates compare to one another.

The Feeding Company prides itself on being for you. For that reason, we are primarily a private pay/pay out of pocket company. This allows us to use our time with you in whatever way will best serve you and your baby. Both lactation consultant services and occupational therapy services could potentially be covered by your insurance, and we would be happy to provide you with a Superbill to provide to your insurance for reimbursement, but we cannot make any promises at this time.

We pride ourselves on being flexible. We intentionally leave time in between clients to be flexible. If your schedule is a bit off or your baby just fell asleep, give us a call and we will try our very best to come at a time that works for you and your baby. We want to see your baby feed when they are ready and willing, so we will do our best to make that happen.

We currently serve all of Franklin County. Anything beyond Franklin County will need to be approved by the Team member and may incur an additional fee.

After your first service, you will be provided with the option to upgrade your individual service to one of our packages. This will be available up to 48 hours after your first service. After the 48 hours, you will no longer be able to upgrade.

No! You will have the full year from your first service to utilize your other services. Please know if you do not use those services within that timeframe, you will not be refunded.

We have seen so many parents spend a lot of money on different bottles and breastfeeding accessories that end up not working for them. You cannot return those things after using them, so The Feeding Company will provide you with your own personal kit of items needed to feed your baby when you have a prenatal education session or an infant feeding consultation. These are highly personalized and will be based on your responses in your intake form and also based on our session. This could consist of specific bottle types and nipple flow rates, manual pumps, infant spoons, sensory devices for babies, etc. We recommend if you are utilizing our prenatal education session, wait to purchase feeding supplies until after our meeting.

Give us a call, send a text message, or send an email. We will do our best to respond within 24 hours!
